Hi all I have a 1999 (T) S40 and cant seem to be able to find the code which indicates what colour it is. My local halfords say they can mix it for me but they need the code to match it! It is metallic black if someone already knows what the code is? many thanks for any help.

nicked from elsewhere The paint code is found on the silver chassis plate in the engine compartment under the bonnet. The number is normally three numbers followed by a digit and then one or two other numbers e.g. 456-11 or 321-5 or 418-08 we need this number to order the correct colour of paint. This number is normally found on the right hand side of the chassis plate half way down, the other common place is at the lower part of the chassis plate on the left. how much are they charging you and is it in a tin or an aerosol, need to do a bit of painting myself so the info would be useful

Wouldnt trust halfords to paint match, they made some for my Leon, Champagne Silver off the code and it was nowhere near close enough. I actually took it back and complained. IMO go to a proper paint supplier and get them to do it, might cost a bit more but again, IMO worth it.

not a fan of halfords, but i've had a paint pen and aerosol can made up on two different occasions and the colour was a very close match both times
