Hi, I have a 1989 760 turbo. I am thinking of upgrading the front brakes. What's the accepted wisdom about the best way to do this? Is there a kit available, or a later car with larger brakes which will bolt on... 960? S/V90? I have 16 inch wheels, if clearance is an issue. (Tried a search already). Thanks for any advice John
Thanks 1stRaven. Where did you get your mintex parts? And do you know which pad compound you have; I know mintex do various ones. Mine is a bit upgraded (210 - 220 bhp), not as much as yours so I'll try a set of the mintex. My driving style is not mega heavy on brakes, so that will probably be fine. Cheers John
Hi there John H & 1st Raven! I desperately need new brakes on my project 940 (nowhere near the BHP of your cars), and I was just wondering how you were getting on with your Mintex discs & pads? Would you recommend them? Are yours just the vented type (not drilled or grooved)? What pads have you got? & Finally How long do they last? (I always seemed to go through dics and pads really quickly) Your advice would be gratefully received!!!! Cheers, Duncan.
They have been working fine on mine but my car has been off the road for the last 4 months and wasn't really used during the summer due to various issues. If you are looking for a cheapish upgrade, try them out.
I was going to upgrade my brakes but was told how good the standard brakes are if they are in good condition. I replaced discs and pads front and rear with standard items and they really dont have a problem slowing the car down, adn mine has above standard power levels too.
