I am running an HD system (Pro Tools 6.9.3) on an Dual 2.7 GHz PowerPC G5 (Tiger 10.4.2) and I am unable to change the Ownership & Permissions on two AVID SCSI Drives. The 'Ignore ownership on this volume' is not available on the AVID SCSI Drives, where it is on all other drives. Also, when I go to Disk Utility and get info within Disk Utility the drive has 'Can Turn Owners Off :' set to No, where as the other drives are set to Yes - this option is not changeable. Any thoughts on this? Thank you

In the Apple Disk Utility (in the "erase" tab), what does it say the drive's format is? I'm guessing it's a PC initialized drive. If that is the case, you should be able to copy the data off of them onto your Mac, but they probably won't work too well as record/playback volumes for Pro Tools. You would need to re-initialize the drive in the Mac Disk Utility as a "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" drive. Jon Connolly Digidesign Product Specialist

Thank you for the info! Currently the two drives in the Avid removable chasis, the ones that I am concerned about, are my record drives. They seem to work fine but I am unable to share them. I will check into your thoughts when I am back in on Wednesday and see what I find. The system may have been installed, reusing the drives from the original os9.2 ProTools 5.1 system. Thanks!
