I am using combination of following filters to backup old hindi movies - interlaced and Bitrate about 2800 to 3200, to DVD 5. Intent is to retain as much quality as possible, remove noise and smoothen the picture, encoding time is not an issue. Currently it takes about 36 hours to back up 3 hours of movie. Suggestions on tweaking the parameters or adding or removing filters from following are really appreciated: Undot() FluxSmooth(7, 7) FFT3DFilter(bt=0, sharpen=0.7, interlaced=true) Deen() also had tried had tried following FFT3DFilter(bt=1, sharpen=0.5, interlaced=true). thnxs for ur time and efforts. Edit: Removed filter name from thread tittle.

Hi Superuser, Post a short clip of the original - 20 seconds, no audio needed. You can use DGindex to get a clip, Mpeg2Cut2 will do it as well. Post to RapidShare.de if you don't have a web site. You're using too many denoisers. Undot before Deen is like a waterballoon fight in the rain :D Congrats on your first post.

Looks nice. The only thing I would address is the flickering, especially in the last few seconds. Does the rest of the film do that ?

All of the above questions can be answered with a question: How does it look to YOU? Trust your eyes - That's the ONLY thing that matters in the end. You can measure noise levels to your heart's content, but what does the final result look like in the end? Noise can also be your friend. In many cases, the proper type of noise will add the illusion of sharpness, or can mask other artifacts which can't be filtered. On the other hand, some people want as clean an image as possible. Nobody is wrong ;)
